Hello from the top of Germany!  The country's hi Hello from the top of Germany!

The country's highest mountain, Zugspitze is easily accessible from Munich and makes for a great day trip from the city. I took a train from the central station to the ski town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen from where a blue-and-white cog-wheel train took me up to Zugspitzplatt or Zugspitze Glacier Plateau. There are a couple of restaurants here, including the vegetarian @gletscher2600 where I had a 'cheeseburger' on the sun terrace.

The final ascent to the summit was via a cable car, which brought me to the massive viewing platform with a stunning vista of the mountain and the surrounding Alps. Zugspitze straddles the border between Germany and Austria, so I hopped across the platform to the Austrian side for a look. On the return, I took the cable car all the way down to Eibsee, the scenic blue-green lake at the foot of the mountain.

Glimpses of Munich on a fun @rikschaguide tour! O Glimpses of Munich on a fun @rikschaguide tour!

On a sunny Saturday afternoon, I hopped into an e-rickshaw at Marienplatz and went on a joyride  around the city.  My guide Jan (who is a carpenter by profession and does these tours on the weekend) drove me through the English Garden, which incidentally is bigger than NYC's Central Park. We stopped to see the surfers at the Eisbach canal and later for a coffee at @fraeuleingrueneis, a kiosk-cafe located in what used to be a ladies toilet! Exiting the park, we rode past the river Isar, taking in the sights and even stopped for an ice cream. Overall, it was a fun way to explore the city and I would highly recommend it.

A majestic 19th-century residence that once belong A majestic 19th-century residence that once belonged to the royal family of Bhopal, Jehan Numa Palace is a charming, intimate heritage hotel in the heart of the city. I loved its Neoclassical meets British Colonial architecture, the period detailing, and the genuine warmth of service. My Imperial Room was spacious and well-appointed, but my favourite part was the outdoor sit-out overlooking the swimming pool and horse-riding track — I made sure I woke up early to see the horses trot around on their morning rounds!

Meals were stellar, whether at the Italian/Mediterranean La Kuchina or breakfast at Shahnama. But the highlight was the sumptuous General's Table at Under The Mango Tree, which featured signature dishes from the erstwhile royal family of Bhopal.

Thanks @jehannumapalace for such a lovely experience and @prstudio.2014 for organising this press trip with a super-fun bunch (last pic).

A short but blissful stay at Jehan Numa Retreat la A short but blissful stay at Jehan Numa Retreat last week.

Set on a lush 12.5 acres with just 28 rooms, this close-to-nature resort feels both intimate and expansive. Loved my room with a four-poster bed, private deck, bathtub, and outdoor shower. Food and drink is as farm-to-table as it can get, whether it's at a greenhouse cafe next to the organic garden or at a botanical bar amidst citrus trees.

Two days in Bhopal! It was my first trip, and I r Two days in Bhopal!

It was my first trip, and I really enjoyed the city's laidback pace (despite it being the capital of Madhya Pradesh), its clean appearance, and the fab food on offer. The numerous lakes and extensive green cover only add to its charm.

Here are a few glimpses from a heritage walk around the old city, hearing about its history and the progressive begums who ruled over it for a century. Did you know that Bhopal has both the largest (Taj-ul-Masjid, pics 1-5) and smallest mosques in India?

Inside the stunning @fairmontudaipurpalace where R Inside the stunning @fairmontudaipurpalace where Rajput grandeur meets contemporary luxury.

Perched atop the Aravalli Hills, this sprawling 18-acre estate is designed for the modern-day maharaja (or maharani). I spent a blissful couple of days here last week reveling in its luxury and the warm Fairmont hospitality. Absolutely loved its interiors layered with handcrafted details, such as 200 carved Makrana marble pillars, thikri-inlaid ceilings, hand-painted domes, showstopping chandeliers, and signature leopard sculptures. Its 300+ rooms sport regal design, hand-carved furniture, and heritage textiles, and come with plunge pools, garden decks, or cabana-style lounging areas, not to mention panoramic views of the hills and heritage gardens #hosted @fairmonthotels

When rice meets jaggery in an artful combination, When rice meets jaggery in an artful combination, it gives rise to a fragile but rich confection — pootharekulu. On my trip to the Konaseema region of Andhra Pradesh earlier this year, I got a firsthand look at how this unique sweet is made. I also visited rice paddies and a jaggery-making unit to get the complete pootharekulu experience!
