What better way to banish those Monday blues than to plan for the upcoming weekend? If you’re in Mumbai and cannot take off for a holiday anytime soon, treat yourself to a little staycation in the city itself. Sofitel Mumbai BKC has a tempting 5 Senses Staycation package on offer. The hotel is celebrating its 5th anniversary in India by offering a one-night staycation package designed to delight the five senses. The stay includes a bunch of experiences to give you a taste of their impeccable hospitality. My husband and I recently experienced the staycation over a rainy weekend. Here’s what you can expect when you staycation at Sofitel Mumbai BKC.

Sense of Sight

We were picked up from our residence by a courteous driver in a gleaming black BMW 5 Series car! How’s that for a grand entry to the hotel?

Our ‘luxury king’ room was on the 10th floor, massive and very well appointed. I loved the purple-hued Mumbai-inspired art in the room and the super-comfy bed. The bathroom was spacious complete with a large tub. There was an Illy coffee machine in the room, which I always feel is a nice touch.

Sense of Smell

Our room had some lovely blooms and the toiletries were by The French Note, very fresh and with undertones of my favourite perfume – lavender. And of course, a delectable welcome hamper of dark chocolate and macarons, plus some fruits.

Sense of Touch

The staycation package includes a luxurious couple’s treatment at Sofitel’s signature So SPA by L’Occitane followed by a visit to the Savio John Pereira Salon.

I opted for a back and shoulder massage – woes of being a writer, I guess! My therapist was quite skilled and she really took care of my pain areas. I had a relaxing cup of green tea and left the spa feeling quite rejuvenated.

Next stop, was the salon where I had a hair wash and blow-dry, and I was all set for the evening!

The hotel had given us a cocktail voucher, which we decided to use at Artisan. This lobby restaurant is a chic bistro during the day and transforms into a cosy lounge with live music in the evenings. We ordered our cocktails – a refreshing caipirinha for the husband and a smooth cognac cocktail for me. The combined music of a live guitarist inside and the gentle rain outside made it a lovely evening.

Sense of Taste

The staycation package includes dinner at any one of the hotel’s five restaurants. We chose to dine at Pondicherry Cafe since the restaurant was hosting a Thai festival. The hotel had brought down chefs from Sofitel Bangkok. We had a nice feast of Thai delicacies such as papaya salad, fried tofu with a sweet and spicy sauce, a massaman lamb curry, and a stellar Thai green curry with sticky rice.

The next morning we contemplated going downstairs to the restaurant for breakfast. But the staycation package includes breakfast-in-bed, so naturally, we opted for it. And what a spread it was! Just look at the picture below 😉

We took up Sofitel’s offer of a late check-out (normal time is 12 noon). We stayed in till about 2 p.m., enjoying the sight of the Mumbai monsoon.

Our ‘beamer’ was ready to whisk us home. Our weekend staycation at Sofitel Mumbai BKC really made us feel relaxed and absolutely ready for the next week.

So if you’re looking to staycation in Mumbai, check out the 5 Senses Staycation package at Sofitel Mumbai BKC. The offer is available until the end of 2017.

Disclosure: Sofitel Mumbai BKC invited us to experience the staycation package, views my own.
